I’m back, everyone.

Teaching is one heck of a job. I’m teaching five grades and have a total of 63 students. And I’ve been working nine to ten hour days for the past two weeks. When I get home, I collapse on the couch. If I do anything productive, it typically involves shopping or making food. I’ve been doing pretty good about making and eating home-cooked food, by the grace of God. Meal prepping is my friend. I have homemade breakfast bowls frozen and ready to microwave, and I’ll typically have overnight oats twice a week. I’m also using the heck out of my crock pot. So far, I’ve made chili and turmeric chicken. That said, I did get lazy the other night and eat canned spaghetti.

I’m sure that all of you are anxious to hear about how my teaching job is going. And the answer to that is–well, it’s going. No one’s died yet, and I think that the sixth graders are doing pretty good with finding their subjects and verbs. Seventh grade seems pretty excited about reading The Hobbit, eighth and ninth grade are my smallest classes and are both super chill, and tenth grade is about to read a really good book for a book report. I don’t think I’ve fallen behind with anything. That said, progress reports are somehow coming up soon and I literally have no idea how those work.

And I’m alive. Sort of. Teaching is emotionally draining (I’m an introvert and definitely not used to being around so many people for 40 hours a week). I hardly ever get to see my friends or family. I’m doing better living alone in my apartment than I did in the dorms, but I still get lonely. I’m not allowed to get pets, or else I’d have a cat. Benny my bean plant died, so it’s just me and my fish.

I have no idea when (or if) I’ll be able to post blogs regularly again. But I’m still hoping to release Book 3 this fall (maybe November-ish) assuming I can get my beta reader feedback in time. Until next time, dear readers, enjoy the cooler weather we’ve having.
