I’m Back, Y’all!

Good Lord, what a year it’s been!

I don’t really know where to start. I’ve survived my first year teaching. I’ve gotten a cat. I’ve released Book 3 in the Clouds Aflame series and I’ve moved on to writing a fantasy book. And, best of all, I’m able to start blogging again.

One more quick thing, though. My social media presence might look a bit different in the coming weeks. For the past year or so I’ve been working with a marketing agency, and I’ve basically delegated a lot of my social media posting to this agency. They’ve done a great job, but I’ve decided to do things myself from here on out. So if you see fewer posts, or different kinds of posts, please don’t freak out! Everything is going according to plan.

And here is my plan: For the next ten weeks or so, I’m hoping to post live once a week, meaning that I write a blog and immediately post it. God willing, I’ll be able to continue blogging throughout the next school year via a mix of scheduled and live posts. My main focus at the moment, aside from working on my fantasy book, is to get more disciplined with creating Instagram posts and reels. A lot of my Instagram stuff is also shared on Facebook, so if you’re old fashioned and still prefer Facebook, you won’t miss out on anything. I’m also very active on Twitter (my username is @MJPiazza2) but I will warn you, the last thing I posted on Twitter is a video of my cat making a weird noise.

By the way, my cat’s name is Roscoe and he is the best cat in the history of cats. He is snuggly and sweet and a self-paced eater, meaning I can easily leave him on weekends to go visit my parents. He has a habit of hiding under my bed and attacking my feet while I’m getting into bed, and he has a strange affinity for the hair that’s stuck in my shower drain. But he’s a very handsome boy and my social media pages are absolutely littered with pictures of him. Right now, Roscoe is sitting on my windowsill because I have my windows open. He’s just watching the world, and he looks very adorable doing it.

Rest assured, though, I won’t spend the next three months talking solely about my cat. I might go into some behind-the-scenes of the Clouds Aflame books, or recount some of my teaching escapades. If you’re lucky, I might even talk about the fantasy book I’m working on. I’ve never written fantasy before so I’m somewhat reluctant to share *all* the details with you, but I’ve talked about my fantasy book quite a bit on Twitter and I might be introducing the main character, Maywin, as a guest on some of my Instagram reels. (If you don’t follow me on Instagram, I’ve been doing reels where I dress up as my characters and act out little scenes with them. It’s time consuming but fun to do and I hope to do more of those types of reels soon!)

Any questions about the plan? Any suggestions for blog posts (or social media posts) you’d like for me to write? And do you have any questions for my characters? They’d love to answer your questions in Instagram reel format! Leave a question in the comments below and I’ll do my best to answer! Have a blessed day, dear readers, and enjoy summer!
