It’s been a while.
I guess I just needed a break from blogging. I got the first year of this website paid for as a Christmas present when I was 16, and for years, I’d religiously post once or twice a week. My schedule took a hit when I started teaching full-time, and even now that I’m doing online tutoring, I’ve never really gotten back into it.
Time isn’t the only factor. I’ve changed a lot as a person in the last eight and a half years, and I guess my prioirites have shifted. Plus, I’ve realized that blogging isn’t necessarily the best way to get book sales, and not a lot of people look at this site anyways. So I guess it just felt like a waste of time.
That said, I’m thinking about getting back into it. I definitely won’t be posting weekly, and I might change the content a little bit. I’ll talk less about writing, or about my books (unless I have an important update), and more about things I find interesting. I’ll keep things wholesome, and probably mostly literary-themed with a few personal posts thrown in for good measure. I might talk about cool books I’ve read, or themes I want to see more of in books, or about entertainment in general. I might talk about life.
I will, however, give you some updates on my life because I know it’s been a few months since I’ve posted…
- I have a boyfriend. We’re unfortunately long distance at the moment, but he’s wonderful and we’ve been together for ten months now. Expect better romance subplots in future books, now that I’ve actually experienced it.
- I’m working part-time as an online English tutor. I don’t know how long I’ll be in this position (the company I work for isn’t the greatest), but I enjoy getting to help kids and nerd out at the same time.
- I’m still crafting! I’ve crocheted two baby blankets and knit two or three hats so far this year, and I’ve probably made other things I’ve forgotten about. I know I’ve crocheted three hot pads for my boyfriend. He’s planning on moving down. I also cross stitched the bookmark I bought last year in Scotland.
- Did I tell y’all I went to Scotland last July? I didn’t get to go to Orkney (where my Clouds Aflame trilogy is set) but I loved it! My favorite part was the bus trip we took from Edinburgh through the Highlands. We got to see Loch Ness and Glencoe, which is absolutely stunning.
- Last year was a busy year. I don’t know if I talked about how my grandpa passed away and my father had open heart surgery, all within a few months of the Scotland trip. It was an interesting season of life and I’m glad we got through it okay.
And, in bookish news, I’ve finished the second draft of my fantasy book! It’s currently being read by beta readers, and the feedback that I’ve gotten so far from them is encouraging. In fact, I’ve been asked by two of them if I’m going to turn the book into a series, so my current project involves turning my book into a trilogy. I have ideas, I’m just not 100% sure how to implement them.
Anyways, this blog is going to look a bit different moving forward, if I decide to keep it up at all. I’ll see what changes life throws at me. I do promise, though, that I’ll update with important bookish news when it comes.
