If you follow me on Instagram, you probably noticed my most recent reel. I got to dress up as four of my characters (I hope to add more as I add wigs and costumes to my collection) and introduce them. My mom saw this reel and asked me a question.

“You know your students are probably going to see this, right?”

I didn’t exactly know what to think. Yes, having my students find my Instagram is a part of trying to be a teacher and an author at the same time. No, I didn’t think about this ahead of time. There’s nothing I can do about it, either. The thing is…I put on my best normal-person mask whenever I teach. Along with mascara and an outfit that makes me look like I stepped out of the 1950s, neither of which I wear on a regular basis. Teacher-Me is a facade, an alter ego. Bits of the real me slip out, of course. I’ll accidentally make an awkward comment or a reference to one of my books, or I’ll say “good heavens!” when I’m startled.

Well, anyway. Some of my students have seen my Instagram reels. I’m not sure if this will erode the illusion I’ve created (or at least tried to) of a respectable, scholarly individual. Oh well.

Also I have a cold at the moment. I’ll take the cold over the stomach bug that’s been floating around the school, but I’m still tired and this will be a short post. Farewell, dear readers, and enjoy watching me embarrass myself on the internet. At least I get to showcase my acting skills. I do enjoy giving a good performance now and again.
