So far this year, I have been reminded of a quote from some old-timey Ohio newspaper that I found online: “They say that life is one damn thing after another, but it’s not. The damn things overlap.” I’m certainly feeling this right now as I lay in bed with a low-grade fever, mild cough, and aching limbs. That’s right, folks. After two years, I’ve finally caught the Corona.
But that’s not all! My grandmother, who’s been in the hospital or a rehab facility since Christmas Eve, had a seizure yesterday. My mom, dad, and sister are all sick as well. Dad and Sis haven’t tested for Covid yet, but it’s likely that they have it. My dad has been sleeping almost all day and hasn’t once moved from the couch.
Despite all this, I have a few things to be grateful for. I have a pretty mild case, thank God. Turns out, Covid can cause pretty much any physical symptom. My neck and jaw were hurting his morning; apparently, it was tension from being scared plus needing more energy to breathe. I took some magnesium (a muscle relaxer) and it cleared right up.
This is technically the first week of my last semester of college. I tried doing work online earlier, but I’m taking ASL and my professor had us do a word search that had finger-spelling letters instead of actual letters. Deciphering that with a fever was pretty interesting. It took about four hours (half of which I spent watching clips from Whose Line Is It Anyway instead of working) but I finished it.
This is going to be a short post. I’m feeling better overall, but my wrists ache, making it rather hard for me to type. I’ll see y’all next week!
